A Psychedelic, Salsa-Dura-Inspired Anthem That
Finds Balance in Tough Times!
Written and produced by both artists in Pilsen, Chicago,
“Pedacito de Cielo” draws from a mix of Salsa and
Psychedelic surf rock. Lester Rey, a Chicago-born
Puerto Rican artist, is no stranger to Caribbean rhythms,
blending percussion and vocals with influences from
House, R&B, Electronic, and Soul music. Gabacho, a Mexican-American artist born in Chicago and raised in Mexico, brings his background in soft-psyche and surf rock into the mix. The two artists came together to create an energetic, uplifting track that uses their shared strengths in
percussion and guitar. They also made a conscious decision to use tape and analog equipment in the recording process to capture a warm, nostalgic vibe inspired by the Salsa Dura and Psychedelic rock eras of the late '70s. The result is a fresh yet nostalgic sound, a trip “ni de aquí, ni de allá,” bringing us all a 'Pedacito de Cielo.'
