Bennett Roth has an extensive career as a jazz pianist, and this is his first release as a leader. With an abundance of experience as a sideman, music director, and composer on numerous jazz albums, Bennett is emphatically out in front on "It'll Always Work Out" with tunes all demonstrating his confidence in both composition and improvisation. The album's tracks feature styles of samba, hip-hop, funk, and fusion, all aiming to promote the mantra of the album title: "It'll always work out!" Drawing from influences of contemporary jazz pianists such as Robert Glasper, Taylor Eigsti, and Kris Bowers, Bennett teams with two long-time collaborators, William Bohrer on electric bass and Michael Henning on drums, to deliver all of the songs in a traditional jazz trio setting and lets his melodies and ensemble interplay shine.
