Truth Over Drums is fully produced by The Shaman of Vybez and allows Idris French to unpack a lot of his up bringing from overcoming depression, getting bullied, navigating life while his family hit a low point and why he is this private person he is today. (TOD) is real hip hop with story telling implemented into the project. The title is inspired from the way The Shaman of Vybez brings his beats to life starting with the heart beat...the drums. The other inspiration comes from some of the things Idris French found difficult to share, he saw this as an opportunity to share a lot of truths, some bad...some good. While not being proud of many things shared on the project, it was a therapeutic process. The album has been in the works for several years now , breaking ground in 2018 with just the beats in mind to write to. TOD is a project that people who love conscious rap and lyrics will greatly appreciate and of course the boom bap lovers.
