Take Off Your Cool is a remix of “Of A New Cool” from the original Stretch Music recording. The original title was a nod to our sound and group being of a new breed of cool. This one comes from a different vibration, it's more about finding the cool in being your most genuine self. This song features Robert Glasper and I surgically carving together a myriad of har-melodic and rhythmic feels over this groove. What’s different here is that you get to hear a shadow of how the same phrasing would live with a drummer playing in the Nouveau Swing style under us. Brian Richburg Jr. lays down some killer passages meant to point to the kinds of rhythms we as musicians might hear within a groove or pocket. The tune illuminates the inner thoughts of the sounds, the inner rhythm of the rhythm, if you will. I’m often asked if what we’re hearing or what we’re implying is there, but to the listener isn't, so from that standpoint, this composition as it clearly  depicts that  idea.
