Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith, born August 3, 1988, professionally known as DRAM (an abbreviation for "does real-ass music" and formerly known as Shelley FKA DRAM), is an American rapper originating from Hampton, Virginia. Signed with Atlantic Records and Empire Distribution, he rose to prominence with his debut single "Cha Cha" and gained widespread recognition with the chart-topping hit "Broccoli" featuring Lil Yachty, reaching number five on the US Billboard Hot 100. Born in Landstuhl, West Germany, and raised in Hampton, Virginia, by his mother who served in the military, DRAM's passion for music blossomed during his teenage years. His admiration for singer Bilal led him to discover unreleased tracks like "White Turns to Grey," shaping his love for hidden musical gems. In his musical journey, DRAM released his debut EP, #1Epic, followed by the mixtape Gahdamn! His standout single "Broccoli" catapulted him to mainstream success. His debut studio album, Big Baby DRAM, dropped in October 2016, receiving acclaim from critics and fans alike. Beyond his solo work, DRAM collaborated with Gorillaz on the track "Andromeda" for their album Humanz and contributed uncredited vocals to "We Got the Power."
